2015 to 2017 Ford F150 factory halogen headlights with FUZED LED upgrade

Looking for the correct 2015–2017 Ford F-150 bulb size? This guide covers factory halogen-equipped 2015, 2016 and 2017 Ford F-150 trucks and includes low beam, high beam, fog light, front turn signal, side marker, rear brake/turn signal, reverse light, cargo light, third brake light, and license plate light bulb sizes.

The most important thing to verify before ordering is your truck's factory headlight configuration. The headlight bulb recommendations in this guide are for F-150 trucks equipped with factory halogen headlights. Trucks equipped with factory LED headlights use integrated LED headlight assemblies and do not use the H11 and 9005 replacement headlight bulbs listed here.

Important Headlight Fitment Note: 2015–2017 Ford F-150 trucks with factory halogen headlights use an H11 low beam and 9005/HB3 high beam. Factory LED-equipped trucks use integrated LED headlight assemblies and do not use these conventional replacement headlight bulbs.

Factory Halogen vs Factory LED Headlights

The 2015–2017 Ford F-150 was available with both factory halogen and factory LED headlight configurations.

Factory Halogen Headlights

Factory halogen-equipped trucks use:

  • Low Beam: H11
  • High Beam: 9005/HB3

Both positions can be upgraded with compatible FUZED LED bulbs.

Factory LED Headlights

Factory LED-equipped 2015–2017 F-150 trucks use an integrated LED headlight assembly instead of conventional replaceable H11 and 9005 halogen bulbs.

If your truck is equipped with factory LED headlights, the H11 low-beam and 9005/HB3 high-beam recommendations in this guide do not apply.

2015–2017 Ford F-150 Headlight, Fog Light, Turn Signal & Side Marker Bulb Sizes

Low Beam — H11

2015–2017 Ford F-150 trucks equipped with factory halogen headlights use an H11 low-beam bulb.

FUZED LED H11 bulbs provide an LED upgrade for the factory halogen low beam. Because of the available space behind the bulb on these trucks, an extended headlight dust cover is also required when installing the LED low beam.

High Beam — 9005 / HB3

The factory halogen high beam uses a separate 9005/HB3 bulb.

FUZED LED Headlight Upgrade

Upgrading the factory halogen H11 low beams and 9005/HB3 high beams to compatible FUZED LED bulbs provides brighter, whiter illumination compared with the original halogen lighting.

Correct installation and LED-chip orientation are important for maintaining a useful beam pattern, so bulb positioning should always be checked after installation.

Fog Light — 9140 / H10

The factory halogen fog lights use a 9140/H10 bulb.

Side Marker — 2825 / T10

The front side-marker bulb uses a 2825/T10-size bulb.

Because bulb electronics, color, socket depth, and vehicle application can vary, verify the exact replacement intended for this position before ordering an LED upgrade.

Extended Dust Covers Are Required for the H11 LED Low Beam

When installing an LED bulb in the H11 low-beam position, additional clearance is needed behind the LED cooling assembly.

The factory low-beam dust cover does not provide enough clearance for the LED upgrade. The extended F-150 dust covers provide additional room behind the bulb while keeping the rear of the headlight housing protected.

The same extended dust covers used on the 2018–2020 trucks also fit the 2015–2017 F-150.

The H11 LED bulbs and extended dust covers are separate products, so both should be ordered when converting the low beam to LED.

A white LED replacement can provide a cleaner, modern appearance compared with the original incandescent bulb.

Cargo Light & Third Brake Light Bulb Sizes

Cargo Lights — 921 / T15

The cargo-light positions use 921/T15 bulbs.

Upgrading these bulbs to bright white LEDs can provide significantly more useful illumination in the truck bed at night.

Third Brake Light — 921 / T15

The third brake-light position also uses a 921/T15-size bulb.

When replacing this position with LED, make sure the replacement is intended for the red third-brake-light application rather than the white cargo-light position.

Recommended FUZED LED Upgrades for the 2015–2017 F-150

For factory halogen-equipped trucks, the primary FUZED LED upgrades covered by this guide include:

  • Low Beam: H11 FUZED LED
  • High Beam: 9005/HB3 FUZED LED
  • Fog Lights: 9145/H10 FUZED LED
  • Front Turn Signal: FUZED LED switchback
  • Reverse Lights: 3156 2,100-lumen FUZED LED
  • Cargo Lights: 921 white LED

Remember that the H11 low-beam LED upgrade requires the separate extended F-150 dust covers.

LED Installation & CANbus Information

The compatible FUZED LED headlight products listed in this guide are intended for the factory halogen applications described above.

No CANbus decoder is required when using the compatible FUZED LED headlight bulbs on these trucks.

The H11 low-beam LED does require the extended dust cover for physical clearance, but an additional CANbus decoder is not needed.

FUZED LED Fitment Note: These recommendations apply to the factory lighting configurations described in this guide. Trucks equipped with aftermarket headlights, aftermarket tail lights, or modified factory wiring should be verified separately.

Installing the H11 LED Low Beam

After installing the H11 LED bulb, make sure the bulb is fully seated and securely locked into the headlight housing.

The extended low-beam dust cover should then be installed to provide the additional clearance required behind the LED cooling assembly while keeping the rear of the headlight protected.

LED Light Output & Headlight Beam Pattern

A good LED headlight upgrade depends on more than simply increasing lumen output. The LED light source must also be positioned correctly inside the factory headlight so the reflector or projector can direct the light properly.

When installing compatible FUZED LED H11 low-beam or 9005/HB3 high-beam bulbs, the LED chips should face horizontally from side to side.

Viewed from behind the bulb, the LED chips should sit at approximately the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions.

After installation, confirm the bulbs are fully seated and check the headlight beam pattern and aim before driving at night.
