2019–2023 Ford Ranger Bulb Size Guide & LED Headlight Upgrade

Looking for the correct bulb sizes for a 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023 Ford Ranger? This guide covers the Ranger's low-beam headlights, high beams, fog lights, reverse lights, cargo lights and third brake light, along with LED upgrade and installation information.

We have also tested our latest F1 Mini 3.0 LED low-beam bulbs in the 2019–2023 Ranger using a controlled beam-pattern wall and lux meter. Below you'll find the bulb-size chart, installation tips, bulb alignment information and our measured halogen-versus-LED results.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger H11 Low-Beam LED Upgrade

The low beam is one of the most important fitment considerations when upgrading a 2019–2023 Ford Ranger from halogen to LED. The factory housing has limited space behind the H11 bulb, so an oversized LED heat sink can interfere with installation or prevent the factory dust cover from being reinstalled.

For this reason, we recommend the compact FUZED LED F1 Mini Series for the Ranger's H11 low beams. The latest F1 Mini 3.0 is designed around the dimensions of the original H11/H8/H9 halogen bulb, allowing it to fit in applications where rear clearance is limited.

Measured Halogen vs. F1 Mini LED Headlight Output

For our latest Ranger test, we positioned the truck approximately 20 feet from our beam-pattern wall and placed a lux meter in the headlight hotspot. We measured the factory halogen headlights first and then repeated the test after installing the F1 Mini LEDs from the same vehicle position.

In our test, the new F1 Mini LED setup reached approximately 3,100 lux at the measured hotspot. Using the same truck, wall distance and measurement location gives us a much more useful comparison than relying on rated bulb output alone.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger LED Headlight Installation

Replacing the halogen low-beam bulbs in the Ranger is relatively straightforward. The passenger side provides access, although the air box can be hard to work around. If you need more room on the passenger side you can remove the air box, we go over this procedure in our installation video.

On some models the driver side will have a small fuse box near the headlight area that may need to be moved for additional working room.

1. Access and Remove the Low-Beam Headlight

Locate the low-beam dust cover on the rear of the headlight assembly. Remove the cover to access the factory H11 halogen bulb. Disconnect the factory electrical connector and rotate the halogen bulb out of the headlight housing.

2. Install the F1 Mini LED Bulb

Insert the F1 Mini LED bulb into the housing with the connector in the 9 o'clock position - connect it to the factory connector and rotate it until it is fully seated and locked into the housing.

3. Check LED Bulb Alignment

The LED bulb should aligned so that the LED chips are shining horizontally (left and right). The F1 mini in particular should be locked in with the connector going straight up on these Ford Rangers.

4. Reinstall the Factory Dust Cover

The compact F1 Mini design allows the factory Ranger dust cover to be reinstalled on compatible applications without the oversized rear heat sink found on many LED bulbs.

Correct LED Bulb Alignment

Installing an LED bulb is only part of the job. The LED emitters also need to sit in the correct position inside the reflector. Incorrect orientation can change how light is distributed through the headlight housing.

For these Ford Rangers in particular this can be an almost impossible task due to the limited amount of room you have to work with in the low beam portion of the headlight housing. Our F1 Mini 3.0 bulbs fit perfectly and are able to be installed so that the LED emitters/chips are aligned properly (shining horizontally).

After installation, check the bulb orientation and compare the beam pattern on a wall before driving at night. The goal is to maintain the factory headlight pattern while increasing usable light within that pattern.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger 9005 High-Beam Bulbs

Rangers equipped with the factory halogen headlight configuration use a 9005 high-beam bulb. There is more room available in the high-beam area than the low-beam side, giving you additional LED upgrade options.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger Fog Light Bulb Size

Rangers equipped with replaceable factory halogen fog lights use an H8/H11-style fog-light application. A compact LED bulb is a good choice here as well because it keeps the installation clean and minimizes unnecessary bulk behind the housing.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger Reverse Light Bulbs

The reverse-light application listed in our Ranger fitment database is 7440 for trucks without BLIS-equipped tail lights. Because rear-light configuration can vary with equipment, verify your tail-light configuration before ordering.

Cargo & Third Brake Light Bulbs

The Ranger uses a 912 application for the replaceable cargo and third-brake-light positions covered by this guide.

For the cargo lights, use a bright white LED. For the third brake light, use the appropriate red LED replacement.

2019–2023 Ford Ranger Interior Lights

The interior lighting covered by our Ranger fitment guide uses factory LED lighting rather than a conventional replaceable bulb. These positions are therefore not included as a plug-in LED bulb upgrade.
